Excitement! Electricity! Edmonton!
I attended the Edmonton Expo this past weekend and it was an amazing time! The Edmonton Expo merged with the organizers of the Calgary Expo two years ago and this year attendance doubled so I was glad to be part of such an amazing show. Thanks to the organizer, Shane Turgeon, the artists I was placed with, and most importantly, everyone who came by my table to say hello, get something signed, pick up a book/shirt/buttons, or just threw a smile in my direction. A special thanks to my Aunt Elizabeth who provided accommodation, rides - and perogies! And thanks to Aunt Adeline and Uncle J.D. for coming out and also helping with meals during my stay.I hope to attend next year's show! Here are some pics from the weekend...
New ShakesGeare designs (looking for suggestions)
We have done quite well with our current line of ShakesGeare merchandise in the almost two years since we launched them. The top-seller - by quite a bit, actually - is our Justice League of Shakespeare but the other designs have also been a hit.People have been asking for more shirts and more designs and so we are now entering the design phase, looking to launch new ones this fall.So we'd like to take it to you - our fans, readers and wearers of our product - to give us suggestions. What would YOU like on a new Kill Shakespeare t-shirt? Feel free to reach out to us on email, Twitter or Facebook.
Taking our act to New York next month!
Currently in the midst of a very busy September with stage shows, conventions, signings, and lots of work, we are currently prepping for our trip to New York next month to take part in this year's New York Comic-Con (Oct 11-14, Javits Centre, New York)! We will be at the show for the fourth year in a row, but only the second at our own table. We will be at BOOTH #2280 the entire weekend selling books, our ShakesGeare merchandise, signing books, and...... MAKING A VERY BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Sorry, I can't reveal what it is quite yet.In addition, we are excited that we will be bringing a condensed version of our KILL SHAKESPEARE: LIVE STAGE READING to this year's convention! After very successful shows in Tucson and Montreal earlier this month, we will be making our American comic-con debut with the show. Produced by Gideon Productions and directed by Jordana Williams, the hour-long version will be take place:
Saturday, October 13/11, 11am, Variant Stage
Watch some of New York's top up-and-coming actors bring Kill Shakespeare to life with using the images of Andy Belanger, recreate the dialogue as well as sound effects and music.
C2E2 Camera Connection!
I know that it's been two weeks since C2E2 in Chicago but I'm only now getting around to posting some photos from the trip. I apologize for this - the last two weeks have been quite busy with the Middle East Film & Comic-Con trip, then catching up on everything. I'll also post the Dubai photos later this week.My trip to Chicago was fantastic. It's a great theatre town so obviously there were already a lot of Kill Shakespeare fans there - and we were able to make so many more! My only regret is that our book stock is pretty low so we sold out early Sunday morning.I have a LOT of people to thank for making Chicago so great. I'd like to thank my booth helper for Saturday and Sunday - the fantastic Sarah Hunter. I'd also like to thank Christina Hall and Diego, who helped out for a few hours on Friday evening. I'd like to thank the amazing team at the ALA - especially Tina Coleman - for including us in their scavenger hunt (I'll see you in June at the conference in Anaheim!). Lys Fulda for helping me out with accomodations in the city (go Chinatown!). Jenny and Chris from ReedPop who helped us secure our spot at the show. Everyone who came out to my STANDING ROOM ONLY workshop on pitching and marketing your comic. And finally, the amazing Kate Kotler for helping out through the weekend and serving as a city tour guide (from a remote distance - she was 'M' to my James Bond through the city)...Next year will be even better! I look forward to visiting the city again. Here are some pictures:
ShakesGeare in Australia!
Late last week I received an email from a university friend, Mo Bhamani, who now resides in Australia. Mo, in addition to being one of the funniest guys I know, is a fan of the series and wanted to show his support from the other side of the world. So on Australia Day (January 26th) we strutted around country (okay, Sydney) wearing one of our Kill Shakespeare t-shirts. Here are two shots of his outside the famous opera house...
