Nothing that can be announced quite yet, but look for more information in the coming months. In the meantime, we do have one announcement - the final issue of our SHERLOCK HOLMES VS HARRY HOUDINI series is released next week! We'll be putting up more previews of art in the next week here but in the meantime here's the description of the issue:The thrilling conclusion to the critically acclaimed series sees two become the sign of the one… Rasputin, the mad Russian monk, has forced either Holmes or Houdini to take their final bow, leading our remaining adventurer to rally his spirits to combat the man who cannot be killed.
HOLMES VS HOUDINI #4 in Comic Shops Today!
We're happy to announce that the penultimate issue of SHERLOCK HOLMES VS HARRY HOUDINI hits comic shops today around the world!Sherlock Holmes is one of the world’s most famous literary characters, one of the most controversial aspects of this character is his drug addiction, something debated and discussed by his fans over the last hundred years. Some interpretations ignore it, some briefly mention it, and a brave few tackle it head-on.We like to take no prisoners. It is Holmes’ drug addiction that we delve into in this issue, with some cool visuals by artist Carlos Furuzono. Our previous issue found Sherlock Holmes and Harry Houdini defeated by the mysterious and powerful Rasputin. Now the two must rally to save London but to do so they must face their own demons – for Holmes this means a trip into the darkest corners of his mind through his major vice.
The improbable has become the impossible! With magician Harry Houdini arrested after a blood bath that has left his wife at the edge of death, detective Sherlock Holmes must overcome his suspicions – and his demons – to free Houdini and overcome a powerful enemy that commands the unholy powers of the spirits. So run out and grab a copy today - you'll enjoy it!
This is why we do this...
I received an email from an old high school friend of mine last week, who I haven't heard from in almost 20 years (don't do the math, please...). He's now living in Europe (he moved back during high school) and discovered Kill Shakespeare in his own journeys. It was a really nice thing to receive out of the blue.
We spend so much of our lives working on our stories and one of the best things is to know that people are reading what we've written - and more importantly, that it helps bring people together. It makes all of the long hours and doubts completely worth it.The letter reads (I've edited out one line in the opening paragraph):Hello Anthony. You may not remember me, but we went to school together back in South Porcupine. We had mutual friends... and back then I used the name Matti. Only after moving to Finland have I started using my real name. But as to the reason of this letter. It is nothing more then a letter from an acquaintance from long ago congratulating you on your achievements. I literally stumbled onto Kill Shakespeare while working. A few years ago I was working as a child and family counselor in the university hospital of Tampere in the pediatric oncology and hematology unit. I walking into a patients room, and as I said literally stumbled on this book. I was immediately intrigued, as was the patient due to my English language. It turned out to be just the right "ice breaker" that was needed to start the process I went through with the family for what turned out to be a long, painful and sadly final trip to the hospital for this family. But it wasn't until now, years later I once again came across this series that I looked a little closer at it and realized that it was the Anthony that I knew back in Porcupine. I now live with my family close to the Russian boarder in a small town/village called Kiihtelysvaara, close to Joensuu in North-Eastern Finland where I am going for my masters in theology to become a pastor at the university. As such, from time to time I do work with the youth group and young adults. One of youth group kids brought your comic on a camping trip that we were on and he asked that I read it to them as my pronunciation is somewhat better then theirs. So congrats to you Anthony, you have a following way over here in Finland too. I wish you all the best. Kindest regards,Matti
Holmes and Houdini Celebrate the New Year with a New Issue!
Last year was an amazing year for us with the release of a new Kill Shakespeare graphic novel (The Mask of Night), the Kill Shakespeare Board Game (great reviews) and our new Dynamite Comics series, Sherlock Holmes vs. Harry Houdini. And the New Year starts with a bang with the release of our latest issue of the clash of the world’s greatest detective and escape artist, SHERLOCK HOLMES vs HARRY HOUDINI #3. The issue is released next Wednesday (the 14th) at comic shop around the world. It’s time for us to introduce the villain of our piece, someone who has become legendary over the years, in song, literature and media, and who we think is just as clever (if not more mysterious) than the famous Dr. Moriarty. What grand, bearded villain will appear in our tale?Detective Sherlock Holmes’ and magician Harry Houdini’s refusal to investigate the attacks on Houdini’s shows together leads to a horrific attack on a loved one and puts Holmes and Houdini face to face with a deadly force that defies death…
The Mask of Night collected edition is out next week!
I'm excited to announce that the collected trade paperback of THE MASK OF NIGHT is being released next week in comic shops around the world (and bookstores will be the following week). So if you're looking for a great holiday gift idea for that comic and/or Shakespeare fan in your circle, our fourth volume could be it!This collected book includes the original four issues, a new backup story detailing the backstory of our protagonist's brother Sebastian (tying it into our Kill Shakespeare universe), and a page-by-page dissection of script-to-artwork.We're excited to see the final product when it arrives (after LA port delays) and we know you will too!
Holmes vs Houdini #2 Coming Out Next Week!
“The easiest way to attract a crowd is to let it be known that at a given time and a given place someone is going to attempt something that in the event of failure will mean sudden death.” – Harry HoudiniWell, no one died last month but our new mash-up series featuring Sherlock Holmes, Harry Houdini, magic, suspense, drugs, spiritualism and death did debut with great acclaim and sold out at every convention we attended. The question by all was whether the follow-up issue would contain just as much fun and mystery? The answer: elementary, of course.Readers will be able to continue experiencing the forced partnership of these two great literary figures next Wednesday (November 12th) when SHERLOCK HOLMES vs HARRY HOUDINI #2 will be released at comic book shops around the world. In HOLMES v HOUDINI #2, we pick up after a grotesque murder (suicide by axe?) at Harry Houdini’s show. The legendary magician clashes with Sherlock Holmes over the great detective’s refusal to allow Houdini to help bring the perpetrator to justice. But the proud Houdini won’t take no for an answer, leading to an epic game of cat-and-mouse in London’s dangerous streets.
Killing Shakespeare in his own city!
I returned just over 24 hours ago from a whirlwind trip to London where I took part in the London Comic-Con (the weekend of Oct 24-26th). This was my third time over the pond for a show and I'm growing more and more attached to the city. In addition to the show I swung by the Sherlock Holmes Museum and the Globe Theatre. Both incredibly inspiring spots. Here are some pics from this weekend.
- Shocked by the content of Holmes vs. Houdini!
Kill Shakespeare in London!
Though I'm still recovering from the melee that was the New York Comic-Con this past weekend, I am now preparing for one final comic-con (for me) this year. And is it not fitting that it'll be in the place that Shakespeare became famous - London, England?Yes, I'm heading to London next week for the London MCM Comic-Con. Conor attended the show back in May and I attended a couple of the show last year and they were all great. It's an amazing city with a huge appetite for anything geek (and Shakespeare). There are a great group of organizers involved and the crowds are huge and wild. The show takes place next Friday (October 24) until Sunday (the 26th) and I will be there all three days. Once I have my exact table number (and panel info) I'll post them online but it shouldn't be too hard to find me at the show.So if you're in London please spread the word - the Canadian is invading! The Canadian is invading!
New York - A Hell of a Town!
Well, what has quickly become the busiest convention of the year for us has just ended... The New York Comic-Con! Some reports indicate that the show is now bigger than San Diego in terms of attendance; I don't know if this is the case but I do know that it's a really big show.We had a great time in the city this year - meeting with fans, finding new readers, seeing the board game for the first time, and selling our new Sherlock Holmes vs. Harry Houdini series as well. We broke sales records and look forward to winding down the year with only a couple more. Here are some pics from the weekend:

Two books released next Wednesday (October 1st)!
Well, when it rains, it pours...Next week is going to be a busy one for us as we are releasing on Wed, Oct 1st not one but TWO comic book issues on the same day!First off, we are releasing the fourth and final issue of our latest Kill Shakespeare mini-series, THE MASK OF NIGHT. Betrayed by the vicious cannibal Captain Lucius, Viola and Hamlet must undertake an odds-defying mission to punish a murder most foul. It’s an ending that features adventure, romance, revenge, amazing art (by Andy Belanger) and death – all the good parts of a Shakespearean tale. And we're quite proud to release the debut issue of our new series with Dynamite Comics, SHERLOCK HOLMES vs HARRY HOUDINI. In this first issue, famed detective Sherlock Holmes and brash showman Harry Houdini must combine forces to defeat a mysterious mystic dedicated to destroying Houdini’s career and anyone who gets in his way.We quite enjoyed the ability to bring these two larger-than-life figures together and see what happens when they first meet. Do they become BFFs? Do they get under each other’s skin? And who is worthy of doing battle with both (if there is anyone at all)? We are working with talented Carlos Furuzuno and the talented team at Dynamite Comics to bring our story to life.To read a preview of the first couple pages of Holmes vs. Houdini, click here. So go to your local comic shop next Wednesday and check out both issues!
August FanExpo County
Well, it's been just over a week since FanExpo ended and things have been quite busy. But I've finally(!) been able to go through some of the photos from the weekend and here they are!But first, thanks to everyone who made it an incredible weekend - our established fans, the new ones, the people that came to our Live Graphic Novel impromptu reading on Saturday night, the volunteers from the crowd that served as our "FanExpo Kingsman Players", our friends, the people that tabled beside us and were forced to hear our pitches every days, etc...And look for us at shows this fall - everywhere from Montreal, Portland, Edmonton, New York, London and Miami.
